Did 2020 win?
I don’t believe 2020 beat us. I don’t believe that 2020 is the deciding factor of this race called life. Maybe I’m just an optimist, maybe I’m just trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel, or the silver lining in the cloud. Maybe….
But I think I’m more in tune with what the scriptures says:
Philippians 4:4–7 (NIV) 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:10–13 (NIV) 10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
I’m not saying that the stay-at-home orders have been easy. I’m not saying that I don’t want this year to finally come to a conclusion. Not at all. I’m not in favor of the restrictions on singing at church, nor of much about this year. I’m simply saying that we need to be content in Jesus Christ.
John 14:27 (NIV) 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
So, no…. it’s not 2020 Won, but it’s 2021 a new year, a fresh start a time to listen and find our peace in Jesus Christ and in Him alone. Don’t look for a vaccine to bring the world peace. Don’t look for the end of COVID-19 to bring peace – because when it finally goes away, something else will come. Look to Jesus Christ alone. He brings true and lasting peace!

So thankful am I, to be able to draw from this insight; which regenerates my soul & allows me to then recommit internally to the mission. That whenever we pause to reassess, the horizon only gets brighter. Because His divine purposes are accomplished bit by bit ~ through our humble endeavors. Therefore the Light that goes daily before us will never dim nor fail . But rather, it is the ever burning 🔥 source of comfort and surety that carries us forward and steels our resolve.

It is so easy to get bogged down with all of the struggle and anxiety that this world brings! We need this reminder daily, that God is not surprised by what is happening and that he has a plan. We need to slow down and rest in the comfort that he is trustworthy and is always there for us. Thank you for the reminder! I have always thought that a “good Christian “ should never worry. I am not there yet. But these trying times are good practice for the journey!
