————————————
I was struck this week by the idea of what church is really about. Church is about COMMUNITY. Maybe that’s why this church is named the Adventist Community Church. When someone is sick, when a child strays from the Lord, when you are discouraged, when you’ve been locked up for 6 months in a house full of kids and are looking forward to a school year or more in-home classwork, you need community.
But isn’t that the way God designed us? To be in community? God himself said, “It is not good for man(kind) to be alone.” What that is saying is that the God who lives in community (the trinity) saw the need for us to also be in community. We need each other. We need people.
When did I realize that? As I walked through church last Sabbath and realized that even with masks, I was so glad to see people I hadn’t seen for 6 months. Church isn’t about the knowledge we get, although that is good. Church isn’t about the music, but that is good too. Church is about growing in community with God, with each other.
If you haven’t been back to church recently, it’s time to pre-register to come (unless you have some other medical issues that would say to stay away).
Welcome to the Adventist Community Church. It is about the community.
Our community needs us! The office has gotten many calls from people who have missed the last couple God’s Closet events that we had to cancel and are hoping we will have one soon to help with back to school shopping for their kids.
We are planning for God’s Closet to happen the week of September 6 – 13, with the 13th being shopping day.
HOWEVER, with Covid restrictions, we will be having the event outside, and that means we need more help and more volunteers to pull it off.

Check out the new App for our church. It gives up-to-date information from our webpage, our calendar, our database. You can sign up to help in the outreach event for the fall, or you can join a Community Group. You can download the app from our webpage atwww.AdventistCommunity.churchand then simply log in with the church name (remember, it’s the Adventist Community Church).
Go to the new website at https://www.adventistcommunity.church and at the bottom of the front page you will find links to download the app for your Android or iPhone. This will allow you to get quick and easy access to many things like our weekly calendar, our Facebook page, etc. It’s always a good idea to have easy ways to stay connected and get church news, especially right now!
Plan to join the live worship this coming Sabbath, or our live stream. We’ve been working on things and improving them. If the livestream link you are trying to get to doesn’t work, go to one of the others from this page: https://www.adventistcommunity.church/watch-live/ Even though things are imporoved, there may still be some glitches to work out.
Or simply call the church office to pre-register or just show up with your mask. We’d love to see you.
There is a position open for a volunteer treasurer. Tasks involve approximately 8-16 hours per month. For more details on knowledge and equipment necessary, please contact David Cannard at 360-608-0587 or at dmjcannard@comcast.net.
Church Finances
Since we aren’t “passing the plate” at church these days, here are some other options for your giving.
You can bring your offerings to the church, or mail them (address at bottom). You can also go to theAdventist Giving Site to give – click here. We’ve also added the ability to give via Venmoor Paypal by searching “@AdventistCC“. Finally, we have giving kiosks where you can give with all major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay as well.
If you are already giving via the Adventist giving site, we want to encourage you to keep using that, and PLEASE don’t go into debt to give to your church. But thank you for your support.
