From Pastor Roger…This week has been an amazing week. On Christmas Eve, the President of the Inter-American Division and his adult daughter were kidnapped in Haiti. However, last night they were released! Praise the Lord.
Also this week we opened the mail at the church to find a check with very large donation divided up amongst various ministries and bills for the church. The biggest two items were for the mortgage and the church budget. This was from an anonymous giver. Great news though. Amazing.
This week, we said goodbye to our daughter Kylie, who flew east and today set up a new home in Milwaukie, WI to begin her teaching career one week from today. Time flies when you are having fun…. I keep asking, “Who started this? Have kids, raise them up to become responsible adults and FRIENDS. Then they move away?” Huh? Thank you for your prayers for all my kids.
The staff is focusing right now on creating our COVID Master Plan that will allow us to involve more people and engage people who are not coming to church and are not engaged, not involved, not being visited, etc. Three main areas we are working on: 1) Visitation (John), 2) Community Groups – online and live (Ryan), and 3) Worship (Roger). It is our hope to involve more people, be more engaging whether it is live or live-streamed for it all. Please keep praying that we might consider doing this faithfully and well.
The Family Worship service continues to expand and hold people’s attention. Those that are attending completely love coming and I would suspect that Ryan has built something that will stay around long after COVID-19. Our first service is only running about 40 or so people and the second service about 100-120 people.
So, 2020 is almost over. December 31-January 1 is kind of an artificial, arbitrary line in the sand. But I think it’s safe to say, we are all ready for 2020 to be over. On the morning prayer call this morning, Dan Weston mentioned that the year was almost over and someone piped up, “Hallelujah!” Yep, but for the grace of God, none of us would survive this year: Pandemic, Lockdowns, raging wild fires, smoke, economy, unemployment, elections and election challenges. I’m ready for this to be done. But I’m also encouraged that God is still in charge and is the only hope for the future. I am praying also for you.
Join us for a Farewell Car Parade in the church parking lot on Sabbath, January 2, at 3:00pm. Let’s share our appreciation for all she has done for our church community and wish her well as she moves to be closer to her sister in sunny Arizona.
As part of his senior year at Columbia Adventist Academy, Bryce Cassagneres is completing a senior project. He has chosen to focus on impacting others by detailing three community members’ cars. He has created a Google Form that he would like you, the members of Adventist Community Church, to fill out if you are interested in having him detail one of your cars.
