Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It’s a national holiday. Dr. King is most noted for his “I have a dream” speech. He was eventually assassinated in a very troubled time in America. Like or dislike Dr. King, it doesn’t matter, He will not be ignored. His dream for equality still rings true in our society today.
I too have dreams. Dreams for the church, dreams for my family, dreams for my relationships with friends. I don’t have dreams of riches or fame. I don’t have dreams for more stuff to store in my garage. My dreams are all about people, relationships and spirituality.
What are your dreams? Are your dreams for more money, riches and fame? Or are your dreams more simple, to be with family and friends, to live a fulfilled life? A new job? Marriage? Friendship?
My largest dream is that my family will ALL be in the kingdom when Jesus comes. That’s difficult. My family is large and we’ve been spread out all over the country the last few years. It’s harder and harder to get them all together. It’s sometimes even hard to reach them all by phone or text. Thankfully, I can leave them in my heavenly Father’s hands and he is never out of reach.
Don’t lose your dreams, but qualify them through scripture and prayer to make sure your dreams align with God. Do they fit in with His plan for you, for society, or for your family? Qualifying your dreams with God means they are more likely to be fulfilled. If your dreams are in alignment with God, then they are easier to pray about and easier for God to grant them. That doesn’t mean every dream I have/you have will be answered exactly according to what we want. Not at all. However, when we qualify them with God, it does get us more in alignment with Him in every area of our lives.
And that’s the best place to live…. Dream Big with God!

Amen!
Said the robin to the sparrow,
I should really like to know
why anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so!
Said the sparrow to the robin,
Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no Heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me.

Amen! It has been such a comfort to know that God cares even more for our children than we do! It’s good to be reminded that God is in control, so our goals will be much more satisfying if we set them according to His plan for our lives. And a lot less worrying we would need to do, if we just asked Him first (and waited for an answer)!
