Yesterday, as I preached on the issue of a biblical view of sexuality, I realized that there is so much more to cover than we will get to in these three messages. I’ve now preached one and will have two more to go. But one person came to me and afterwards and said something horrible had happened to them as a child. They asked if I would please tell the children in the congregation that if they are victims, it isn’t their fault….
Why have I chosen to talk about this topic? Because the devil has turned it upside down and for too long, the church has been silent, hoping it would go away. It’s not going away and aberrant views of sexuality abound, even within the Christian community. It’s time to begin taking things back.
On Friday evening, a friend sent me a video that shows a commentator talking about a video that YouTube has since taken down where a group of people saying they are coming after our kids. They later claim it is satire. But children should never be the focus of satire. They should never be the focus of sexual advance.
This sermon series isn’t so much about that. But it is about coming to grips with what our society says is normal and good and putting it under the microscope of scripture to help people make biblical choices for themselves. We are building in this series towards the third and final one. Stay tuned and watch/come/attend and listen to what God is saying to us all.
Christians are not called to lay down and play dead in society. We also aren’t called to force people into our belief system. But we are called to be different, to be IN the world, but NOT OF the world.
Thanks for the reminders of who we are and what we’re to be doing. Let us all pray for His leading in this world.
Yes. The church has been silent for way too long. Thank you for working on this in a clear and positive way. When I started writing books to help people heal from sexual trauma, I was shocked at how rampant this issue is. It effects nearly everyone, yet no one talks about it. Thank you again.
I was unable to attend/watch the sermon. Looking forward to seeing the video when it is uploaded to the website. Thanks for the sermon series.
We had some audio problems with the Facebook video and I believe the audio will be up shortly…. Thanks for your patience.
