Psalm 124:1 (NCV) What if the LORD had not been on our side?
(Let Israel repeat this.)
Have you taken a long look at your life in awhile? I mean, really had a long-look. Periodically, I wonder why I’m still struggling with something in my life and that makes me go down a road of wondering whether I’ve really been walking with God or not. I mean, if I was really walking, wouldn’t I have been an overcomer in this area already.
Then I have to ask, What if the LORD had not been on our side? What if I hadn’t been walking with God? Where would my life have gone?
It’s then that I remember that the night before I went to church for the first time, I smoked my first two cigarettes. That same friend and I had begun to experiment with alcohol. I went to church the next day. After my baptism and moving to private Christian school, I lost track of my friend. He went on to drug abuse and alcoholism.

It’s then that I remember another friend of mine. We did a lot of various sports together. We went streaking through the neighborhood at night. His dad’s shop was filled with centerfolds on the wall. After my decision to go to college and ministry, I lost track of this friend for quite awhile. I caught up to him a few years ago. He’s been through two divorces and was in a shaky live-in relationship then.
What if the LORD had not been on our side?
I could go on and on. Idols, demonic, law breaker, anger, selfishness, lust, purpose, direction, mission, overcoming, spiritual power and much more. What if the LORD had not been on our side?
2 Corinthians 13:3 (NCV)
3 You want proof that Christ is speaking through me. My proof is that he is not weak among you, but he is powerful.
2 Corinthians 13:5–6 (NCV)
5 Look closely at yourselves. Test yourselves to see if you are living in the faith. You know that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you fail the test. 6 But I hope you will see that we ourselves have not failed the test.

Repeat that question! Look at the answer! It is impossible for you and I to connect with God and not see the blessings over time. Yeah, sometimes I question my relationship with God. However, when I take a look down memory lane, I see many, many, many instances where God has protected me and I see His power working in my life.
So, yeah, keep looking back. Keep asking that question and see how much God has done!
