Every year, I read a number of books. I listen to audio books, I read books out loud to my kids, and I read books. I used to say that I usually read 45 books a year, I’m probably slowing down some (too much internet time) to about 30-35 right now. Here are a list of my favorite books this year and last. I hope to make this an annual list on the blog. Readers are leaders. Leaders are readers. Are you a leader? Are you a reader? I recommend these books.
-
Digital Minimalism – Written by Cal Newport. This book was well written and very challenging. It challenged me to delete apps on my phone and begin to leave my phone behind at times. I read this in January, but am still pondering the implications. I listened to it again in September.
-
A World Without Email – Written by Cal Newport. Yes, this is a journey and I’m seeking to recover some of my life. Great book. For the record, he’s not advocating no email, but he’s showing how to severely limit it’s usage.
-
The Pursuit of God – Written by AW Tozer. This is a Christian classic and there’s good reason for it. If you haven’t read it, then by all means, you should read it.
-
The China Study – Written by T. Coliin Campbell. This is the book that sparked the Plant-Based, Whole Foods Movement. I’ve read or listened to this book several times. Well worth your time.
-
The Deep Things of God – Written Jon Paulien. This book is primarily going through subject and verse through the book of Revelation. Paulien is a master of deep thoughts and making them easy for the layman to understand. Worth the read.
-
The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs: How to fix our stupid use of technology – Written by Nick Pineault. This is a challenging book about how EMF’s turn your life in the wrong direction. I’m not sure where to land on this one, but it’s still worth reading and trying to find out where you land on it.
-
Atomic Habits – Written by James Clear. Want to start some new habits in the new year, this book will tell you how.
-
Reading the Times: a Literary and Theological Inquiry into the News – Written by Jeffrey Bilbro. Good book. Nothing I wasn’t already thinking, but he put some handles on how to take in the current news cycle without losing your faith over it.
