I’m up this morning and listening to the sweet sound of rain. I never thought I’d really long for the day when the rain would begin. Hopefully, this will knock down the smoke, help with the fires, and give us some much needed fresh air for a change. We certainly need it.
I am reminded of an old, old song I learned in the 70s. It went something like this: “O reign Lord, reign Lord, reign Master Jesus in our hearts. Reign Master Jesus reign.” It went on to talk about being filled with the Holy Spirit.
In Luke 11:13 (NIV) it says, 13 “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
We are still in the middle of praying of a 40 days of prayer. Why?
- Praying for our Nation: because we have a very contentious election coming up. We have been ravaged more than any country in the world by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our economy and unemployment have been greatly affected by all of this. Riots, social unrest, and racism are huge problems. We need to pray for our nation.
- Praying for our City: Because we need the Holy Spirit more than ever before. We are praying for our city because we have begun advertising for people to take Bible studies either online, through the mail or any other variety of ways. Also we need to pray because in just 5 weeks we are beginning an evangelistic seminar with Brian McMahon.
- Praying for Ourselves: because we know that a revival must begin with us, not with all those unnamed people out there. We need forgiveness. We need to walk in God’s power. We need the Holy Spirit.
Two weeks to go for the 40 days of prayer. We end on October 1. We need the Holy Spirit to come to our nation, to come to our city, to come to us. Maybe God will relent and hold back the winds of strife. Maybe God will hear and bring a major revival. I believe Jesus is coming soon, and I keep thinking, if that is so, then we definitely need the Holy Spirit to come now!
“O reign Lord, reign Lord, reign Master Jesus in our hearts. Reign Master Jesus reign.”
